Description

Fire Pit Art - 36" Mountain Vista NG or LP Fire Pit
Mountain Vista Fire Pit — Bring the Mountains Home
From every seat, the Mountain Vista fire pit delivers a view that never gets old. Its wide, open design invites you to slow down, lean back, and relive evenings spent in the mountains—where stories were shared, laughter lingered, and the fire burned long into the night.
Handcrafted to order by master artisans in Tennessee, this original design represents American craftsmanship at its finest. Built from ¼" thick mild carbon steel, the Mountain Vista is engineered to endure for generations. This is not mass-produced steel—it’s heavy-duty, heirloom-quality construction, creating one of the most durable fire pits available anywhere.
The inner bowl is protected with a high-temperature-resistant coating to withstand intense heat, while a 1½" rain drain ensures reliable performance in any weather. The exterior is finished in a naturally formed iron oxide patina that requires zero maintenance and can remain outdoors year-round. As the fire pit ages, the patina deepens and darkens, locking in a permanent finish that grows richer with time—never peeling, never fading.
Every Mountain Vista fire pit is truly one of a kind, individually numbered by the artist and marked with an attached brass plaque—a signature of authenticity and pride. Whether you choose a classic match-lit system or a convenient all-weather electronic ignition, Mountain Vista delivers powerful performance with a commanding flame and dependable reliability.

Each Fire Pit Art® creation is made from one quarter inch thick mild carbon steel and has an applied iron oxide patina on the outside. The interiors are hand rolled with a dense high temperature resistant coating and have a one and one half inch diameter rain drain in the bottom. There is no required maintenance even in cold, harsh environments and can be left outside year around. These fire pits are safe on wood or composite decking if they rest on a one and one half inch thick (or thicker) stone base that should be approximately three feet square. Artisan crafted fire screens with a wood loading hatch are available for most models. All designs are easily adapted to propane or natural gas equipment. Each fire pit is hand crafted and individually numbered on a small brass plaque attached to the base ring.
Do not tarp your fire pit, the tarp will cause the patina to blacken and stop the oxidation process. In many cases the color of the tarp will transfer to the new steel. During the maturing process keep wet leaves and debris off the piece until the steel matures. Allow the piece to mature with each fire. Sit back, relax and enjoy your new Fire Pit Art®.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rick Wittrig was born and raised in a tiny Mennonite farming village amid the endless sea of corn and soybeans that is the Illinois prairie. He learned steel fabrication and carpentry skills building farm equipment and homes. Admiring the strong work ethic, high quality products and integrity of the craftsman with whom he worked, Rick carries those values into creating his functional steel art. He now lives on Barton’s Creek in Tennessee with his family and enjoys making beautiful fire pits for others to enjoy. A highlight in his career was creating a commissioned Fire Pit for 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler B.C. Canada.
Fire Pit Art is a 2015 Martha Stewart American Made Awards Garden & Outdoor Living Nominee.
